A1298C+ MTHFR Liver Support

(also known as A1298C capsules and MTHFR Liver caps)

The liver is a key organ in the body that serves multiple critical functions. It helps to detoxify chemicals in the body, it aids in the production of blood components, it helps with bile levels to process fats and it contains higher levels of the compound called BH4. BH4 (otherwise known as tetrahydrobiopterin) is critical for the synthesis of dopamine, serotonin, epinephrine, norepinephrine and for nitric oxide function. In other words, to feel good, to want to be productive, to process arginine to nitric oxide (and its impact on the heart) and for attention and stress issues you need adequate BH4. Unfortunately BH4 levels can be seriously reduced by metals in the body, especially aluminum. In addition, certain SNPs tend to allow for lower BH4 levels, including MTHFR A1298C. In addition those with high levels of aluminum and other metals, those with attention issues, those with super high levels of tyrosine, tryptophan, arginine in the absence of adequate neurotransmitters may all benefit from supporting natural BH4 levels. Lack of BH4 has also been tied to neurological pain, and reduced levels of BH4 are found in models of fibromyalgia. In my personal opinion, this basically includes all of us! I feel that the use of this MTHFR Liver Support capsule is something that should be a part of everyone’s daily supplement program. My entire family does take it daily and I alternate its use with that of Metal Away (as that also includes supports for natural BH4). I feel so strongly about supporting natural BH4 levels that I had this capsule specially designed to support natural BH4 levels as well as the liver itself, including ingredients such as milk thistle, liver extract, dandelion root, green tea and broccoli. In addition it includes components to help the liver to produce BH4 (tetrahydrobiopterin) with NADH, niacinamide, liver extract and biopterin. Where BH4 is critical for neurotransmitter production, supporting with components that may help to produce BH4 is particularly useful for those who are MTHFR A1298C +, also for those with higher levels of aluminum, those with mitochondrial issues, those who need liver support as well as those who do not have access to Homeopathic BH4 and those who want to supplement the use of Homeopathic BH4. The MetalAway capsules also have components to support natural healthy BH4 so the combination of MetalAway with A1298C capsules may be particularly useful. As a way to support natural production of BH4, I use these capsules as part of my daily supplement regime, alternating the daily use of MTHFR A1298C capsules with MetalAway as natural approaches to support healthy BH4 production in the body, even though I do not have the A1298C SNP. Where I believe that adult females are at a greater risk for breast cancer due to aluminum, and aluminum impacts mitochondrial energy, my feeling is that naturally supporting healthy BH4 levels is a positive preventative step for long term female health. My husband Ed also uses both MetalAway and the MTHFR A1298c Liver caps daily. Ed has a family history that includes a mother who has had several brain tumors (thankfully successfully handled with surgery!). Animal studies have indicated a relationship between phenylalanine in certain artificial sweeteners and tumor growth. Where BH4 is important for processing phenylalanine (a component of Nutrasweet), the use of this supplement is something both Ed and I take for prevention of health issues, including those related to phenylalanine. The A1298C Liver Support capsule contains milk thistle along with a range of other ingredients for liver support. Milk thistle is reported to help protect against some of the most toxic substances including the death cap mushroom and to also help to heal the liver from viral injury such as from strains of Hepatitis. In addition, the silymarin in milk thistle may help protect liver cells during chemotherapy.

ACAT / BHMT Fatty Acid Digestion Energy Conversion

The ACAT SNP is one of the mutations that is assayed on the DNA nutrigenomic panel I designed. It is not a well characterized SNP, as a consequence most of the supplement suggestions I have made for those who are ACAT + are based on personal observation and data analysis over the past decade. I personally go over each and every DNA test that is included with biochemical tests run through HHI. As a result I have looked at well over 10,000 DNA tests in conjunction with literally many thousands more biochemical tests. What IS known is that ACAT plays a role in converting energy from food and fats into the mitochondrial energy cycle, also known as the Krebs or TCA cycle. So, food is converted to energy that your body can use via this cycle. Those who are ACAT + tend to have imbalances in their energy cycles. In addition, those who are ACAT also tend to show elevated levels of cholesterol and fats and low levels of lithium (there is an inverse relationship between lithium levels and cholesterol levels). Cholesterol is also part of the same pathway related to healthy bone levels. This fits with my personal observation that many who are ACAT + and are also C677T + tend to have issues on tests that measure bone health. I have designed the ACAT caps to take all of these factors into account. ACAT/BHMT capsules may be useful for those who show imbalances in fatty acid levels and fatty acid digestion on CSA, GI, MAP and Organix tests as well as those with ACAT + SNP status or BHMT ++ SNP status. In addition if pyruvic and lactic are high on a MAP test and/or low levels of citric acid/Krebs intermediates are seen it may be an indication of difficulty moving the energy from food into mitochondrial energy and these circumstances may also benefit from this supplement. As mentioned above I have noted that those who have BOTH an ACAT + SNP AND a MTHFR C677T SNP often tend to have imbalances on Bone Assessment tests. While it is not clear why an ACAT + status (combined with C677T +) may contribute to imbalances on these Bone Assessment tests, this is another reason for those who are ACAT + to consider support for this SNP as well as to consider the use of Bone Capsules if bone integrity is a concern or indicated in consultation with your own doctor. I do see ACAT as a significant SNP and I would suggest running regular (at least yearly) MAP, CSA Bone tests, Hair tests for lithium and cholesterol tests. In addition I would suggest working with your doctor on nutrient support including ACAT support caps along with supplements based on the biochemical tests I just mentioned, using follow up yearly testing to ascertain that supplementation is having a positive effect.

Acetyl L-Carnitine

This program prefers to use ‘plain’ carnitine rather than acetyl carnitine with the exception of cases where low acetylcholine is suspected such as Alzheimer’s. Those with Alzheimer’s concerns may also want to consider Huperzine, and the Step 3 compound and ThinkWell. My preference is to use plain carnitine as I have found that some individuals have issues with extra “acetyl” groups, this may be related to imbalances in acetylcholine levels. So, using plain carnitine can get around that possible issue while still supporting the need for carnitine in the system.

Acidophilus

This is a probiotic, or the natural bacteria that line your intestinal tract. It is important to repopulate your body with normal flora; this program chooses to use only Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium for support of normal bacterial flora, and low dose Saccharomyces as normal yeast flora. Acidophilus is one of several sources of probiotics that support Lactobacillus that are used by this program. This Acidophilus capsule contains two strains of Lactobacillus (see complete chart of probiotic strains). I like to rotate the sources of probiotics, however ONLY focusing on probiotics that include Lactobacillus (such as Acidophilus) and Bifidobacter. For a complete chart and listing of the probiotics I suggest and why, please see the separate Probiotic listing.  This includes a more complete explanation of probiotic options and the rationale behind my choices for probiotic support, I do feel that daily probiotic support is a critical part of healthy gut balance. I even uses these probiotics with my precious Newfoundland dogs (with the complete approval of their vet). And of course my three daughters and my husband also take these probiotics daily!

Activated Charcoal

Activated Charcoal is often used to help pull toxins from the system. Where this can cause constipation, activated charcoal should be used in conjunction with either Magnesium Citrate or other bowel stimulating supports as needed to ensure that the bowels are moving during activated charcoal use (see the section in the special categories of the supplement list for supplements for “constipation/moving the bowels”). In my personal opinion, activated charcoal is something to be used infrequently (once or twice a month as directed by your own doctor) as the use of activated charcoal can deplete essential minerals and can also cause elevated vanadium levels on Hair element tests. For this reason regular HE and UTEE should be run when using activated charcoal. The same issues in terms of essential mineral depletion and increases in vanadium may be concerns with other similar compounds used to move toxins out of the system such as bentonite clay and diatomaceous earth. Fulvic and Humic acids may also be a source of excessive vanadium as well as other toxic minerals. As with the use of activated charcoal those compounds should be used infrequently, with careful monitoring of essential minerals and vanadium and as always, under the direction of your own doctor.

Adenosyl Support

A number of the compounded supplements that I have designed already contain lower doses of adenosyl B12, such as MitoForce (333 mcg), Ultimate B Complex (333 mcg), Folinic Plus (375 mcg) and ACAT/BHMT capsules (167 mcg). However, a number of individuals really benefit from higher doses of adenosyl B12, such as the extra 2000 mcg in these Adenosyl capsules. Another option for increased adenosyl B12 support is the use of 8600 mcg in the Adenosyl (dibencozide) tablets. Extra adenosyl B12 is suggested for those with mitochondrial concerns, those with high MMA on a MAP test, those with high valine on a UAA, those with issues related to fat digestion (adenosyl B12 to be taken with biotin) and for athletes. Since adenosyl B12 can be oxygen sensitive it is preferable to use an entire tablet at one time rather than breaking an oxygen sensitive tablet into pieces. Specifically, rather than looking to break the 8600 mcg tablets into pieces, the preferred approach is to use a 2000 mcg capsule. In addition, the capsules may be less oxygen sensitive than the tablets. As with any form of B12 consider running a HE first to be sure lithium is in balance before looking at higher doses of B12 support.

Adenosyl B12 in Black Bear Energy Spray

Adenosyl B12 in Get B12™ Spray

B12 support is critical for long route methylation cycle function. Based on my research it is highly suggested that hair metal tests HE be run (or blood work) to be sure lithium is in balance prior to adding high doses of B12. In addition to the role of lithium in B12 transport, it is also important to look at a source of intrinsic factor (i.e. All in One, MitoForce, ACAT/BHMT capsules) and ATP to aid in B12 transport.

This spray has the advantage of oral absorption which can be a positive for those with leaky gut and nutrient absorption issues. Black Bear spray (as well as the Black Bear drink) is a source of both hydroxyl and adenosyl B12 combined with molybdenum. This supplement can be a help for those who are ready to add B12 and also show a need for more molybdenum as well as those who are SUOX+ or CBSC699T +, CBS 212+, CBS A360A+ or those with high sulfur levels.

Adenosyl B12 in Dibencozide (Adenosyl Form of B12) Lozenges

A number of my specially designed compounded supplements already contain lower doses of adenosyl B12, such as MitoForce (333 mcg), Ultimate B Complex (333 mcg), Folinic Plus (375 mcg) and ACAT/BHMT capsules (167 mcg). However, a number of individuals really benefit from higher doses of adenosyl B12, such as the extra 8600 mcg in these tablets or the extra 2000 mcg in the Adenosyl capsules. Extra adenosyl B12 is suggested for those with mitochondrial concerns, those with high MMA on a MAP test, those with high valine on a UAA, those with issues related to fat digestion (adenosyl B12 to be taken with biotin) and for athletes. The advantage of these tablets is that they are chewable so they do not need to be swallowed and may be a better choice for those who cannot swallow capsules. On the other hand, since adenosyl B12 can be oxygen sensitive it is preferable to use an entire tablet at one time rather than breaking an oxygen sensitive tablet into pieces. For those needing extra adenosyl support and not wanting to use the 8600 mcg in these tablets then the lower dose Adenosyl capsule at 2000 mcg would be a better choice rather than breaking this tablet into pieces. As with any form of B12 consider running a HE first to be sure lithium is in balance before looking at higher doses of B12 support.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Adrenal Support Ora-Adren-80

Adrenal insufficiency occurs when the adrenals are unable to produce normal amounts of hormones, or when the body has a reduced capacity to deal with chronic stress. Those with CFS, FM or under high levels of stress may want to consider adrenal support along with the use of Phosphatidyl Serine Complex and/or Stress Nucleotide Blend as well as Ashwaghanda and Placental Glandular Extract in conjunction with your own health care provider. In addition, the use of Intact Multigland has also proven to be a help for those who feel ‘burned out’. Alternating the use of Adrenal Concentrate with Intact Multigland is another option for support for both the immune and adrenal systems.

Aerobic O7 (Stabilized Oxygen) Drops

Low dose support with Aerobic drops can be used to help support sodium if low levels are detected on mineral tests as well as serving as support for oxygen for tired muscles. When the pH on a CSA test is particularly low, or the creatinine levels are very high on urine tests then the use of sodium bicarbonate is another option to consider with your own doctor, but care should be used when using sources of bicarbonate to help with pH issues. As always defer to your own doctor when working on pH imbalances.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

AHCY / SHMT Iron Related Bacterial Issues

AHCY/SHMT capsules were also custom designed based on my having looked at literally thousands of test results from those are AHCY + or SHMT + in concert with their biochemical test markers. Those who are AHCY and SHMT tend to share issues with microbial imbalances. SHMT + tends toward higher iron, while ACHY+ toward higher levels of Streptococcus on CSA tests. The net result in my experience is that these two SNPs often benefit from supports to help with these microbial concerns. AHCY/SHMT capsules help to support the imbalances created by AHCY and SHMT SNPs, and are also a help for the presence of higher iron on mineral tests; Lactoferrin can also be a help for excess iron. Excess iron can increase bacterial issues. Excess iron can also increase the SHMT pathway so that it becomes overactive looking like an SHMT + SNP even if that SNP is not present. Excess iron can thus create imbalances in aspects of the folate/MTHFR pathway and this supplement may assist in restoring balance. Those with AHCY SNPs may benefit from additional DPP-IV support as that can be useful for chronic Streptococcus. DPP-IV enzyme is included in AHCY/SHMT capsules and extra DPP-IV can also be added with the use of SerenAid. These capsules include a low dose source of folinic acid and nucleotides to help shift the emphasis back to the long route and short cuts around the methylation cycle and away from the ‘dead end’ path created by SHMT +. This capsule is highly suggested for those who show high iron on HE and UTEE tests, those with significant microbial imbalances on CSA tests as well as those with AHCY and SHMT SNPs.

Air-Power Tablets

This is a natural source of guaifenesin which may be a help with CFS as well as excess mucus related to respiratory issues and mucus related to IgA imbalances on CSA and GI tests. The Muscle Fatigue capsules, as well as the Ion Transport capsules, also include a natural source of guafenesin. For this protocol, I prefer the use of the Muscle Fatigue capsules for those with CFS as that compound also includes a number of other ingredients that may be of particular help for CFS. Similarly this program prefers the use of the Ion Transport cap for those using the program for autism or with ion transport issues as the Ion Transport cap has other nutrients that may be a help for autism or ion transport issues. Air Power is a good alternative for those who cannot tolerate the compounded supplements or who want extra guafenesin in addition to what is included in those compounded supports.

Alanine Capsules

If alanine levels are particularly low on a UAA then extra alanine can be added. However, with this program I prefer the use of balanced amino acid supports so the addition of low dose AminoAssist spray and/or AminoAssist capsules or the use of Egg Protein Powder (if no egg allergy) or Royal Jelly (if no bee allergy) would be first choices rather than simply adding alanine. If the only amino acid that was particularly low on a UAA was alanine then the use of low dose alanine could be considered. There is one other situation where support with alanine (rather than an amino acid mixture) might be considered. There are some parents who believe their children began to exhibit symptoms of autism after receiving the DPT vaccine. One consequence of tetanus toxin is that it can lower levels of acetylcholinesterase, which is needed to help maintain a healthy acetylcholine level. While the vaccine uses toxoid not toxin, literature suggests that toxoid may have some residual toxin activity (Vaccine. 2008 Jul 23;26(31):3835-41). The amino acid alanine has been reported to reverse the inhibitory effects of phenylalanine on acetylcholinesterase activity. It is not known if the use of alanine would help to reverse effects of possible toxoid inactivation of acetylcholinesterase activity, and by extension if the use of low dose alanine might be helpful for those with concerns related to the DPT vaccine.

All in One™ Multi-Vitamin / Mineral

This general vitamin is unlike anything else available as it was designed by me personally, based on my knowledge and information acquired from looking at tens of thousands of nutrigenomic and biochemical tests. It literally took me over a decade to finalize this general vitamin formula. I spent years testing each of the individual components in various combinations before making final formulation choices. Then each individual ingredient was tested from multiple sources and then exposed to rigorous testing before deciding on the source of each ingredient. Here are a few examples that highlight what separates this general vitamin from anything else that is available. This vitamin contains no extra added copper or iron, as iron increases bacterial virulence and excess copper can play a negative role in attention issues and higher copper can also decrease GABA, decrease serotonin and decrease dopamine. I prefer higher levels of magnesium relative to calcium and that balance is reflected in the levels of those minerals in All in One. Calcium works with glutamate to over excite nerves to death and calcium and magnesium have a relationship with each other. The goal in my personal opinion is to support calcium, without adding so much that it combines with glutamate in the system to create issues. Magnesium support is designed to be higher than calcium, with both in normal range as tested on HE tests. In addition this vitamin contains a range of much needed minerals (including very low dose lithium to help with B12 transport), a range of antioxidants, a number of herbs to help maintain a balance of higher GABA relative to glutamate and the ideal forms of each of the B vitamins. This general vitamin has low doses of the nutrients needed to support the methylation cycle without triggering detox; it includes low doses of 5 methyl THF, hydroxyl B12 and low doses of lithium and intrinsic factor to help with B12 transport. For this reason, this general vitamin helps to lay basic methylation support for all, even those who have not run nutrigenomic testing. If you are unable to add more than a couple of supplements to support methylation, then the use of All in One daily along with Black Bear spray in the morning and BeCalm Spray at night may be sufficient to help to support healthy methylation as well as basic nutritional needs. My family takes All in One daily, and it is something that I would suggest everyone as a basic supplement to lay the nutritional groundwork for methylation, minerals, and glutamate/gaba balance in your system.

Aller-7 Support Tablets

These tablets include a combination of natural herbs that may help with allergic issues. However, Aller-7 may be an issue for those who cannot tolerate extra methyl donors (such as those who are COMT ++) or those with high sulfur issues as Aller-7 does contain MSM (so those who are SUOX + or have high taurine levels on a UAA or high sulfur on mineral tests may have issues with MSM). As needed for allergies several other supplements can be considered as alternative options, including Butterbur, Quercetin, Cherry fruit extract and HYPERimmune nucleotide blend. A number of individuals have found that the Inflammatory Pathway capsules have made a major positive impact on long term allergies and they can be considered in conjunction with Aller-7 or in lieu of Aller-7. In addition, as tolerated SAMe with the Ultimate B Complex (or All in One) may also be a help with allergies or high histamine. One of my daughters tends toward respiratory issues when allergies are a problem. She uses the Inflammatory Pathway caps along with Respiratory nucleotide blend as needed.

Probiotic-5 Capsules

This is a probiotic, or the natural bacteria that line your intestinal tract. It is important to repopulate your body with normal flora; this program chooses to use only Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium for support of normal flora. Probiotic -5 is reported to be soy free and dairy free as a source of normal flora.

For a complete chart and listing of the probiotics I suggest and why, please see the separate Probiotic listing.

Allergy Eye Relief

These eye drops may be helpful for irritated eyes due to allergies. They can be used in conjunction with Aller-7 and Butterbur and/or low dose Hyper-Balancing Nucleotide Blend to help with allergic issues and the Inflammatory Pathway Support capsules. In addition, as tolerated SAMe with the Ultimate B Complex (or All in One) may also be a help with allergies.

Aloe Latex & Leaf Vcaps

Aloe can be very soothing for irritated tissues including the GI tract. However, excess aloe can cause loose stools. Because it can help with moving the bowels, aloe can be used in conjunction with activated charcoal flushes to be sure the bowels are moving and to soothe the gut after toxin excretion. Aloe may also be a help for constipation. Aloe is also excellent for burns.

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) 100mg

Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) 250mg

ALA may help to increase glutathione in the liver. It supplies a sulfur group to the body. It is also one of the few antioxidants that are able to work in both the water and the fat phases in the body. As a result it is able to help with oxidized cholesterol, (which is why ALA is included in low doses in the ACAT caps). It is often used in conjunction with other sulfur containing supplements for heavy metal detoxification and certain programs focus on high dose ALA. In my personal experience, excessive use of ALA may be an issue for some individuals, particularly those who are NOS + but this is an individual decision that should be determined in conjunction with your own doctor. As a general rule, I am not a fan of high doses of supplements. As described in the Introduction to this book, I prefer lower doses of a range of supplements rather than using a higher dose of any single supplement.

AM/PM Menopause Formula Tablets

These tablets are one of several options for those with menopause symptoms. Often individuals need to try a range of supports before finding one that alleviates their menopause symptoms as the range of symptoms are so varied and individualized. Black Cohosh is useful to offset mild symptoms of menopause. Black Cohosh Extract is a combination of both Black Cohosh and Dong Quai so that would be the next increased level of support if needed. The advantage of these AM/PM Menopause tablets is that they contain a number of herbs reported to be a help and they are divided into those designed to benefit during the day and those that may be more helpful at night. The use of low dose Anxiety Nucleotide Blend (or Menopause Nucleotide Blend) has been found to be useful for hot flashes. In addition Calcium D-Glucarate combined with Indole 3-carbinol (and/or the Broccoli Sprout capsules) may be a help with balancing excess estrogen. As tolerated Vitex may also be a help in balancing estrogen and progesterone but defer to your doctor as always. If a source of phytoestrogens is desired then the Natural Estrogen capsules are an option. In addition the BiEstro Topical Cream is a source of two types of estrogen which can be balanced with the use of Progesterone Cream as needed. The individual use of Black Cohosh or Dong Quai can also be useful for menopause as well as potentially supporting language development.

AminoAssist™ Nutrient Absorption Capsules

Low amino acids on a UAA or issues with nutrient absorption can be supported by the use of amino acids. The advantage of AminoAssist is that this amino acid blend was designed specifically by me to avoid amino acids that are excitotoxins while supporting the need for essential amino acids. This compound also includes nutrients to aid in amino acid absorption. I generally suggest you consider the use of the AminoAssist spray along with capsules when amino acid support is indicated as the combination of an orally absorbed nutrient with a capsule that is swallowed gives more than one route of introducing the needed amino acids into the system. This is preferable to just swallowing an amino acid capsule especially for those who have trouble absorbing nutrients or have leaky gut. The use of the Bowel Nucleotide Blend may help to enhance nutrient absorption. Also the use of VitaOrgan for nutrient absorption can be considered. For additional amino acid support the Egg Protein Powder (if no egg allergy) and Royal Jelly (if no bee allergy) can also be used for overall amino acid support along with a Placenta Glandular Extract.

Aminocare Cream

A topical cream that includes a range of amino acids for amino acid support. For those who cannot swallow pills, the use of Aminocare Cream combined with AminoAssist spray can be used to support amino acids.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Apple Cider Vinegar Tablets

This tablet taken with meals can be helpful for those who suffer from low stomach acid or those with high gut pH secondary to urease production from H.pylori. I personally found that these tablets were a help for me when I addressed H.pylori in my own system. In my case, low stomach acid and difficulty digesting foods was a side effect of increased urease due to H.pylori. NOT all cases of H.pylori are associated with an increase in gut pH. In MANY cases, H.pylori is associated with LOW gut pH and so the use of Apple Cider Vinegar tablets would not be useful with LOW gut pH. One way to gauge gut pH is with the use of a CSA test. (AS ALWAYS defer to your own doctor). I prefer the use of Apple Cider Vinegar tablets for low stomach acid rather than the use of Betaine HCL or TMG. I do not like to use Betaine HCL or TMG as it can convert to DMG which shifts the emphasis of the methylation cycle to the long route rather than the short cut. Once it is time to shift from the short cut to the long route, I feel it is preferable to simply add low dose DMG at that time, rather than triggering that shift before you may be ready. In addition, many individuals (ie COMT ++) have issues with extra methyl donors and therefore the use of TMG or Betaine HCL can be a problem. DEFER to your own doctor as always.

ARA6

This is a source of larch arabinogalactans, which have been reported to help increase the immune system, in particular to help increase natural killer cell activity and macrophage activity within the immune system. This increase in NK and macrophage activity may be a help for those whose immune system is allowing for uncontrolled growth of unwanted cells especially when used in conjunction with more standard medical approaches to cancerous conditions. I like the use of ARA6 combined with Spirulina to support an increase in NK cells as well as to help move those NK cells into the tissue as needed.

Arnica in Arnicare Gel

Used topically arnica gel has been a help for sore muscles, pinched nerves and excessive bruising, swelling and redness. For sore muscles it can be combined with the Muscle Fatigue capsules which contains yerbe mate (among other ingredients) to help soothe muscles. Studies have illustrated that arnica is able to permeate the skin, so it is possible that for those who cannot swallow capsules that opening a capsule (of other supplements) and mixing it with some arnica for topical delivery may aid in at least low dose absorption of those nutrients. In our household we were first introduced to arnica by my youngest daughter who is a dancer/yogi. I literally keep a tube of arnica gel in my purse and it is an indispensable staple in the homes of each of my three daughters.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Artichoke Standardized Extract

Artichoke works well in conjunction with Yellow Dock to relieve occasional constipation. It is a nice addition to a daily supplement regime, with or without the yellow dock. It may also help to maintain cholesterol levels that are already in the normal range. Other supports that may be a help to maintain cholesterol in a normal healthy range include Gugulipid and Red Rice Yeast. Anytime supports are used that aid in keeping cholesterol in normal range, the use of CoQ10 should also be added to the same supplement regime. In addition, high cholesterol may be associated with low lithium so hair metal tests (HE) or blood tests to ascertain lithium levels should be considered. As always defer to your own doctor.

Ascorbyl Palmitate

This is a fat soluble form of vitamin C. Those considering higher dose vitamin C support or desiring a form that enters the fat phase and not just the water phase (as with most vitamin C) can consider this supplement. Caution should be used with super high dose vitamin C support as it can cause bruising or bleeding. Water soluble forms of vitamin C include Vitamin C with Rose Hips and Orange Chewable Vitamin C tablets.

Ashwagandha

Ashwaganda is considered a help for balancing the system as well as for general immune support. Ashwaganda support can be considered for everything from adrenal fatigue to general support as well as an aid for those whose immune system needs additional nutrients. Ashwagandha may also be helpful in balancing acetylcholine levels, and this may be a particular help for those concerned about the impact of the DPT vaccine. In these cases low dose ashwaghanda may be useful.

ATP

ATP is the energy ‘currency’ that is generated by the Citric acid (otherwise known as Krebs) energy cycle within the mitochondria. Those with mitochondrial issues, those with CFS, or FM, those with imbalances on their MAP or Organix tests may all benefit from the use of ATP. Those who show high level excretion of thallium may want to consider extra ATP, as thallium can deplete ATP from the system. In addition, those who have low cobalt on a UTEE or HE test in spite of B12 support may benefit from the use of ATP along with low dose lithium (or higher dose lithium as needed and directed by your own doctor). ATP can be a help along with lithium and intrinsic factor in helping to move B12 into the system. ATP can also be used in conjunction with NADH, and/or MitoForce as a source of energy especially when toxic metals are present that may impair mitochondrial function. Your brain needs adequate stores of ATP in order to detoxify harmful substances. Phosphorus in ATP or Riboflavin 5’-Phosphate or MitoForce may help balance excess calcium. While some calcium is good for bones too much can play a role in kidney and bladder stones, in tartar on teeth and be a factor in bone spurs. Also recall that excess calcium can work with glutamate to over excite nerves to death. When high level essential mineral dumping is seen on a HE and a UTEE I will often suggest a range of energy support supplements, including ATP and Mitoforce. In addition, for high calcium excretion in particular, the use of Prevagen and Vinpocetine in conjunction with ATP and Mitoforce may be a help.

Ayur-Boswellia Serrata (Boswellia Serrata)

The trio of boswellia, curcumin and nettle work together to help balance inflammatory pathways in the body. While the Inflammatory Pathway capsules do contain these three herbs (along with skull cap and slippery elm for additional support), not all individuals tolerate curcumin. Those who cannot tolerate curcumin or prefer to use a higher dose of boswellia can consider the use of this standalone herb that is part of the “trio” While I definitely prefer the combination found in the Inflammatory Pathway caps, the individual herbs are an alternate option.

Vitamin A Softgels

Vitamin A has a bit of a mixed “pedigree”. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin, so it has the potential to accumulate in tissues and cause liver toxicity. Conversely, if an individual has difficulties with fat absorption, they may actually be deficient in Vitamin A. Alcohol can enhance the toxicity of Vitamin A. Elevated levels of Vitamin A are associated with an increased risk of hip fracture in women. On the other hand, Vitamin A is an antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals. There have been some studies, which suggest that high levels of Vitamin A may increase the risk of certain cancers, including breast cancer and lung cancer. However, other studies have shown Vitamin A to be useful in combating cervical cancer. Cervical cancer has been correlated with infection by the human papilloma virus (so it is worth considering IMF 10 and Cervical Nucleotide Blend along with elderberry, defer to your doctor as always). Vitamin A is often recommended for children with autism. This may stem from work in Africa, which found that high doses of Vitamin A were useful in reducing the severity of measles viral infection. Subsequent work has shown that while Vitamin A is useful to help eradicate virus if there is a Vitamin A deficiency, it can actually promote viral transmission if there is no deficiency. This may explain some of the divergent results with the use of Vitamin A. Because it is the most readily available form of vitamin A for the body, caution should be used when considering the use of high doses of Vitamin A in the form of retinyl paltmitate. As an alternative the Beta Carotene gel capsules can also be used to support Vitamin A. Beta Carotene needs to be converted into the useable form of Vitamin A, so the dose is less of a concern, on the other hand, some individuals have difficulty converting Beta Carotene to Vitamin A. For this reason, I prefer low dose Vitamin A gel capsules that are retinyl palmitate (one daily) but I also have asked HHI to stock Beta Carotene for those who have concerns about high dose Vitamin A as retinyl palmitate or those who prefer to use higher doses of a form of Vitamin A. I tend to have issues absorbing fats, so I personally take one Vitamin A gelcap daily as part of my supplement regime.

Vitamin A – Vitamin D Softgels

Since Vitamin A and Vitamin D compete for transport into the body, the use of both vitamins in a single gelcap may help to prevent a deficiency of one or the other as compared to the use of only a source of either Vitamin A or Vitamin D. Rosemary and sage are reported to aid in Vitamin A and D transport so these herbs can be used in conjunction with this gelcap. The source of Vitamin A and D for this gel cap is from fish oil. Cod liver can also be used to support Vitamins A and D, however Cod Liver oil also includes a range of other EFA. Due to the higher overall level of fatty acids in Cod Liver oil it may not be tolerated by individuals who cannot handle as many fat soluble products, in those cases the Vitamin A-Vitamin D capsule would be a better choice.

B Cell Formula Capsules

The immune system is comprised of T cells, B cells and a range of other immune cells including natural killer cells and macrophages. Those with concerns about immune function, those with autism, those with low germanium on a HE test, those whose immune system is allowing for uncontrolled growth of unwanted cells may want to consider B Cell capsules along with T Cell capsules, ARA 6, IP6 and ashwaganda and spirulina. Ideally, a B cell capsule would be used daily along with a T cell capsule. If finances do not permit then another option is to alternate days, using a B cell cap day one, a T cell cap day two, a B cell cap day three, etc. The supplement called Intact Multigland includes glandular support for the immune system. I take at least one Intact Multigland daily. For those who are particularly in need of immune support, I like to suggest you consider Intact Multigland along with a T cell and B cell capsule.

B Complex Creme

By itself, I do not feel this is sufficient for support of B vitamins. However, for those who cannot tolerate a B complex yet or want extra transdermal support in addition to the use of a B complex this crème is a worthwhile addition to a supplement plan as it does contain several vitamins in the B complex family.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

B-2 (Riboflavin 5’-Phosphate)

While B2 can be obtained as riboflavin as well as Riboflavin 5’-Phosphate, the preferred form for this program is the use of Riboflavin 5’-Phosphate as it supplies both much needed phosphate groups as well as riboflavin. Riboflavin 5’-Phosphate is a key compound that is part of the mitochondrial energy generating cycle (the Krebs or Citric acid cycle). Those with energy issues, imbalances in the Krebs/Citric acid cycle, high levels of toxic metals that may impair mitochondria as well as those in need of phosphate may all benefit from the use of supplemental Riboflavin 5’-Phosphate. Those who have high levels of sliver or nickel on their HE or UTEE tests should consider extra riboflavin 5 phosphate in my opinion. In addition the phosphorus in ATP or Riboflavin 5’-Phosphate or MitoForce may help balance excess calcium. While some calcium is good for bones too much can play a role in kidney and bladder stones, in tartar on teeth, can be a factor in bone spurs and calcium works with glutamate to over excite nerves.

Ultimate B™ Complex

I personally designed the Ultimate B Complex to have the precise form of the individual B vitamins that are preferred, including Riboflavin 5’-Phosphate and low levels of hydroxyl and adenosyl B12. Stress depletes B vitamins, they are water-soluble; any excess is excreted so B’s need to be supplemented on a daily basis. Excess B’s may turn urine a bright yellow, this is fine! When my daughters were in grade school, I taught them that if their urine was not fluorescent yellow, it meant they needed more B vitamins. The fluorescent yellow color of urine represented a sign that excess B vitamins were being excreted in the urine. I feel that B vitamins are so critical that I would rather have excess B vitamins being excreted rather than err on the side of insufficient support. It is important to take B vitamins as a complex, as it has been shown that taking a single B vitamin will deplete the levels of the other B vitamins and this occurs in a dose dependent fashion. For this reason a B complex should always be utilized along with the use of any individual B vitamins, including the use of B12.

The one exception, where I slowly layer in support SEPARATELY is in terms of the use of 5 methyl THF. For this reason, Ultimate B uses only low levels of specific forms of folate and I suggest separately layering in a source of 5 methyl THF as tolerated once other aspects of the methylation cycle are in balance. This is why I had separate liquid methyl folate drops designed so that super low doses of 5 methyl THF could be added as desired and tolerated on an individual custom basis.

Since the goal is to add your 5 methyl THF separately, in the desired and tolerated amounts based on your particular SNPs, Ultimate B is designed to supply only LOW doses of plain folic acid (less than 1/10th the amount of folic acid as can be found in a bowl of Cheerios). There are key reasons to support with folate/folic acid in addition to the use of specific types of folates that help to bypass SNPs (such as 5 methyl THF liquid drops to bypass MTHFR C677T). And additional reasons WHY to use only low dose support of folate/folic acid and to focus instead on separately added 5 methyl THF to bypass MTHFR C677T.

Low dose plain folic acid is supplemented in part to address possible MTHFS mutations, especially since they are not generally identified on most nutrigenomic tests. MTHFS is another enzyme in the methylation cycle plays a role in the pathway. Low dose folic acid is a secondary way to make THF in the presence of specific probiotics, bypassing the impact of any possible MTHFS issue, even if we do not have nutrigenomic data regarding this gene. Low dose folic acid as a secondary route to making THF which helps consume excess glutamate in the system.

Now, as to why I use low dose folic acid rather than folate. Folate is basically a chain of glutamates. The difference between folic acid and folate is the stability and the length of the glutamate chain. So if you are MTHFR C677T++ and you take high dose folate you potentially have that molecule, a chain of glutamates, sitting around in your system as you cannot process it efficiently to 5 methyl THF on your own due to your SNPs. You run the risk of the folate (chain of glutamates) breaking down to release glutamate in the system.

STEP 1 of this program is focused on the glutamate/gaba balance. I have made significant progress for some individuals merely by getting glutamate and gaba in balance. Thus I am not choosing to add high doses of a form of folate that could break down into glutamate especially in the population I work with. As compared with folate, folic acid has a shorter glutamate chain, and that chain is more stable in folic acid than in folate. Folic acid is therefore less likely to breakdown to glutamate and if it does breakdown would release less molecules of glutamate. AGAIN, even with the choice of folic acid (as it is more stable and has less glutamate residues), it is still present in only super low doses in Ultimate B (less than 1/10 the amount in Cheerios) and it is present in conjunction with low doses of another specialized form of folate.

In addition to understanding the decision to use low dose folic acid rather than folate, there is another area of confusion regarding the use of folates in general for MTHFR SNPs. NEITHER folate or folic acid will bypass the MTHFR C677T SNP. The MTHFR C677T is a SNP that makes it difficult to convert EITHER folate OR folic acid to 5 methyl THF. So using high doses of EITHER folate or folic acid is not ideal for those who are MTHFR C677T ++ as those cannot be converted to the actual product that is needed, which is 5 methyl THF. Thus there are two consequences from using high doses of EITHER folate or folic acid for those who are C677T ++, one is that they do not get the 5 methyl THF they need and second the extra unconverted folate and/or folic acid may break down into glutamate.

Ideally if you are MTHFR C677T + you would use low dose folic acid so you can generate THF to soak up glutamate in your system and use low dose 5 methyl THF (liquid methylfolate drops) as this directly gives you the product you need, that you cannot make on your own (realize that C677T ++ is not a TOTAL block and that you do convert some of the folate/folic acid so you can use low doses of folic/folate for other reasons). The way to add 5 methyl THF is with low dose liquid 5 methyl THF or using small amounts of one of the other products on the market that contains 5 methyl THF. The pathway that uses 5 methyl THF also needs B12, which means you need enough lithium and B12 along with adding low dose 5 methyl THF.

B-Complex Tablets

I prefer the use of Ultimate B Complex as a source of more complete B vitamins, however for those who cannot tolerate Ultimate B Complex this is an alternative. Before I had Ultimate B custom made, this was the B complex that I utilized for the program. So in my opinion, this is the best alternative to the use of Ultimate B.

B-Complex Liquid

I prefer the use of Ultimate B Complex as a source of more complete B vitamins, however for those who cannot tolerate Ultimate B Complex or need a liquid form of vitamins then this B complex liquid is an alternative.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

B12 Patches

The advantage of this patch is it serves as a transdermal delivery route for B12 which can be an advantage in a number of situations including those who cannot take oral vitamins. However, the type of B12 in these patches is cyano B12. I prefer higher doses of adenosyl, hydroxyl and as tolerated methyl B12 and only very low doses of cyano B12. While patches are a convenient way to apply B12 to the system they are best used in conjunction with Hydroxy B12 Mega Drops and/or Black Bear Energy or Get B12 spray as the body uses hydroxyl B12 in order to detoxify the cyanide from cyano B12 (again remember that All in One and Ultimate B Complex contain hydroxyl B12).

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

B12 gums:

Breath Freshening Gum Spearmint (12 Piece Sleeve)

Breath Freshening Gum Spearmint (100 Piece Bottle)

Breath Freshening Gum Cinnamon (12 Piece Sleeve)

Breath Freshening Gum Cinnamon (100 Piece Bottle)

Breath-Freshening Bubble Gum (10 Piece Sleeve)

Breath-Freshening Bubble Gum (50 Piece Bottle)

Solar Energy Gum (Moon Melon)

The different flavors of this gum (spearmint, cinnamon, bubble gum) are a source of xylitol as well as B12. Xylitol has been reported to be a help with respect to the bacteria that causes ear infections and where the mouth may be a reservoir for Streptococcus, using an oral source of xylitol may have advantages. In addition these gums (spearmint, cinnamon, bubble gum) contain cyano B12. Cyano B12 is not the preferred source of B12, however it is the form of B12 found most often in more unique sources of B12 such as patches and chewing gum. The convenience of these more unique sources would be a reason to consider cyano B12 when using a patch or gum enables you to allow for B12 supplementation when it might not otherwise be possible. The gum can be chewed during the day at school and at business meetings for those with significantly low B12 or those with major issues with fatigue. I always likes to support with a source of hydroxy B12 when any source of cyano B12 is used as the hydroxyl B12 helps to safely remove the cyanide (from the cyano B12) from the system (again remember that All in One and Ultimate B Complex do contain hydroxyl B12). This is also why I always suggest a source of hydroxy B12 when drinking any energy drink (OTHER THAN BLACK BEAR) as the other drinks contain cyano B12 and Black Bear does NOT. I prefer higher doses of adenosyl, hydroxyl and as tolerated methyl B12 and only very low doses of cyano B12.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

B12 Options:

Get B12™ Spray

Hydroxy B12 Mega Drops™

Methyl B12 Mega Drops™

Black Bear Energy Spray

Perque Activated B-12 Guard Lozenges

Adenosyl Support Capsules

Dibencozide (Adenosyl Form of B12) Tablets

Hydroxy B12 Lozenges

Methyl-Cobalamin (B12) Lozenges

B12 support is critical for long route methylation cycle function. Based on my research it is highly suggested that hair metal tests HE be run (or blood work) to be sure lithium is in balance prior to adding high doses of B12. In addition to the role of lithium in B12 transport, it is also important to look at a source of intrinsic factor (i.e. All in One, MitoForce, ACAT/BHMT capsules) and ATP to aid in B12 transport.

There are three major types of B12 used for this program: hydroxyl, adenosyl and methyl B12. Hydroxy and methyl B12 are available as megadrops which allows for exquisite control over dosing as well as limiting oxygen exposure that can occur when oral tablets are broken into smaller pieces. Adenosyl B12 is available as a chewable lozenge and as a capsule when desired in higher doses. Adenosyl B12 is included in lower doses in several of the compounded formulas including MitoForce, ACAT/BHMT capsules, Folinic Plus (formerly MethylMate A) and Ultimate B. Extra adenosyl B12 beyond the levels in those compounds can be considered for those with mitochondrial issues, athletes, those with signs of ketosis on a MAP test, those with high valine on a UAA, and those with imbalances in the Krebs/Citric acid energy cycle. Hydroxy B12 is the form suggested for all, regardless of nutrigenomic COMT status and can be gradually increased as tolerated, again carefully watching lithium levels on tests and also supporting with a source of ATP and intrinsic factor. Hydroxy B12 is available in a variety of formats including the Hydroxy megadrops, Get B12 spray, the Black Bear spray and drink as well as the Hydroxy chewables and Perque chewable lozenges. Methyl B12 is ideal for those who can tolerate more methyl donors and can be gradually increased as with the hydroxyl form of B12. Cyano B12 is not the preferred source of B12, however it is the form of B12 found most often in more unique sources of B12 such as patches and chewing gum. The convenience of these more unique sources would be a reason to consider cyano B12 when using a patch or gum enables you to allow for B12 supplementation when it might not otherwise by possible. I always like hydroxyl B12 support when any source of cyano B12 is used (again remember that All in One and Ultimate B Complex do contain hydroxyl B12). B12 can be degraded in the stomach so it may be destroyed when it is swallowed. Oral dosing with the megadrops can bypass this problem. In addition the B12 oral sprays (Get B12 and Black Bear) and oral lozenges that melt in the mouth may bypass breakdown in the gut as well as B12 gum and B12 patches can allow for B12 support in a manner that limits destruction in the gut. B12 is great for energy and to fight fatigue. They have been found to help with motion sickness and to calm nervousness and may help with OCD. There are reports to suggest that B12 helps to regenerate nerves.

B12 in Genesis IC Cream

The best use of this topical cream, in my personal opinion, is as a source of topical B12. This cream does include some ingredients that I am not fond of. However, there are individuals who need a topical means to add B12 and for those, this cream will serve the purpose of supplying topical B12.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Bacopin Capsules

This ayurvedic herb works nicely in conjunction with Gotu Kola. It has been reported to help with communication between the left and right sides of the brain. Using bacopa with gotu kola has been helpful in terms of language support for a number of individuals. The combination of these two herbs has also been reported to be a help for memory issues. Both bacopa and gotu kola are a part of the compounded Step 3 capsules, however Step 3 has a number of other ingredients designed to help with the final stage of this program. If an individual is not yet ready for the complete Step 3 compound then the use of low dose amounts of bacopa and gotu kola individually can be considered. ThinkWell is also a source for bacopa and gotu kola with the addition of phosphatidyl serine. ThinkWell is an option for those with memory concerns along with the use of Huperzine and Acetyl carnitine.

BactiSolve™ Capsules

The combination of EDTA and chitosan has been reported to help weaken the protective layers surrounding bacteria, making them more susceptible to antimicrobial agents. Those with biofilms concerns or chronic bacterial issues can consider the use of Bactisolve as part of a more complete antimicrobial program. Where BactiSolve does contain EDTA it may cause detox so this consideration should be kept in mind. Consult with your doctor. I like to use NaturoMycin, GSE and Seasonal Support along with Bactisolve for those with chronic bacterial imbalances on CSA/GM tests. Remember that chitosan is derived from the shells of shellfish and for this reason it should be used with caution or avoided by those with shellfish allergies.

BeCalm™ Glutamate/GABA Spray

As with the other oral sprays this route of administration has the advantage of being absorbed in the mouth which can be a help for those with gut absorption issues or leaky gut. BeCalm is designed to contain a range of ingredients to help to balance excess glutamate and excess excitotoxins in the system. BeCalm contains low dose lithium as part of its ingredient mixture to balance glutamate and this has the added advantage of supplying low dose lithium that may be a help for B12 transport and maintaining healthy natural lithium levels. Other supports that can be considered to add in balancing glutamate and excitotoxins include GABA Balance capsules and low dose Nerve Calm Nucleotide Blend.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Benfotiamine Capsules

Benfotiamine is the preferred form of B1 over the use of thiamine. The custom B complex that I designed, Ultimate B Complex does include benfotiamine as its form of B1. In addition MitoForce, All in One and ACAT/BHMT capsules also use benfotiamine. If a MAP or Organix test indicates a need for increased benfotiamine (B1) above and beyond that in the Utlimate B Complex, All in One, MitoForce, ACAT/BHMT capsules then this separate Benfotiamine capsule can be considered. Alternatively, in instances where an individual is not yet about to tolerate the complete set of B vitamins but would like to add them one at a time, then this is a preferred source of B1 rather than the use of thiamine.

Beta Carotene Softgels

Beta carotene is the precursor to Vitamin A. The body converts beta carotene to vitamin A when the system detects a need for more Vitamin A. Cervical cancer has been correlated with infection by the human papilloma virus (HPV). Caution should be used when considering the use of high doses of Vitamin A in the form of retinyl paltmitate, however the most readily available form of Vitamin A for the body is in fact retinyl palmitate. I prefer the use of one Vitamin A gel cap daily; the Vitamin A gel capsules are retinyl palmitate. As an alternative the Beta Carotene gel capsules can also be used to support Vitamin A. Beta Carotene needs to be converted into the useable form of Vitamin A, so the dose is less of a concern, on the other hand some individuals have difficulty converting Beta Carotene to Vitamin A. Again, for this reason, I prefer low dose Vitamin A gel capsules (one daily) but HHI also carries Beta Carotene for those who have concerns about high dose Vitamin A as retinyl palmitate or those who prefer to use higher doses of a form of Vitamin A.

BiEstro-Care Body Cream

This cream will often help to remedy symptoms of menopause and can work well in conjunction with topical Progesterone Cream. Often individuals need to try a range of supports before finding one that alleviates their menopause symptoms. Other supports to consider for menopause symptoms include AM/PM Menopause tablets. The use of low dose Anxiety Nucleotide Blend (or Menopause nucleotide blend) has been found to be useful for hot flashes. In addition Calcium D-Glucarate combined with Indole 3-carbinol (and/or the broccoli sprout supplement) may be a help with balancing estrogens. As tolerated Vitex may also be a help in balancing estrogen and progesterone but defer to your doctor as always.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Bile Acid Factors Capsules

Bile salts tend to be low in those who have had their gall bladder removed, as well as those who have imbalances in fatty acid digestion including those who are ACAT +. While I prefer the compounded ACAT/BHMT supplement which includes bile salts along with a number of other important nutrients, this standalone Bile capsule can be considered by those who cannot tolerate the more complex compounded ACAT/BHMT cap or those who want to add new ingredients one at a time.

Bio-Nativus Concentrated Trace Mineral Drop Complex

This is my preferred basic mineral support. My preference for this compound dates back to my time as a certified BioMeridian energy practitioner, where the use of this mineral mix was helpful in balancing acupressure energy points in the body. I used these minerals when I was using the Biomeridian electrodermal testing device in my private practice, as a certified practitioner. I would use these minerals to get a more stable baseline for individuals before using the device to test reactions to additional supplementation. I found that these minerals did a better job of achieving a baseline balance than any other mineral supports. Bio-Nativus Trace Minerals can be combined with the use of Cell Food for more complete support, especially when copper is too low (while I prefer zinc to be higher than copper, I do want copper in the low normal range). My personal routine is to add a small ‘squirt’ of Bio Nativus minerals and about 5 drops of Molybdenum to a 16 ounce bottle of Poland Spring water each day. An added benefit of Bio-Nativus minerals is that it includes low dose lithium. For those who do not need extra separate lithium orotate or lithium drops (as based on blood or HE testing), but do want to keep their lithium in normal range and supported, the use of All in One + Be Calm spray + Bio Nativus minerals daily is generally sufficient to prevent lithium levels from dropping too low.

Bioactive Colostrum Powder

Colostrum is a source of immunoglobulins such as IgG and IgA. Where I often see low sIgA on a number of gut tests or very high level sIgA on these tests( that can ultimately lead to long term depletion), I have selected sources of colostrum reported to be higher in sIgA molecules. Different types of colostrum have their own unique balance of these immunoglobulins. For this reason I often suggest rotating the colostrum products, so a rotation of Bioactive Colostrum with Colostrum with Lactoferrin and IGF-1 can be considered.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Biotin Capsules

While biotin is contained in Ultimate B Complex and All in One, additional support may be needed for those with imbalances in fatty acids, those who show signs of ketosis on a MAP or Organix test, and those with elevated valine on a UAA. Biotin with the use of adenosyl capsules or adenosyl tablets is suggested in these cases as that combination can be a help for fat digestion. Athletes also often need extra biotin and adenosyl B12.

Black Bear Energy Spray

This spray has the advantage of oral absorption which can be a positive for those with leaky gut and nutrient absorption issues. Black Bear spray (as well as the Black Bear drink) is a source of both hydroxyl and adenosyl B12 combined with molybdenum. This supplement can be a help for those who are ready to add B12 and also show a need for more molybdenum as well as those who are SUOX+ or CBSC699T +, CBS 212+, CBS A360A+ or those with high sulfur levels.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Black Cohosh Capsules

Often individuals need to try a range of supports before finding one that alleviates their menopause symptoms. This herb is useful to offset mild symptoms of menopause. Black Cohosh Extract Plus (listed below) is a combination of both Black Cohosh and Dong Quai so that would be the next increased level of support if needed. If that combination is not successful then the product listed as AM/PM Menopause contains a number of herbs reported to be of help. They are divided into those designed to benefit during the day and those that may be more helpful at night. As tolerated Vitex may also be a help in balancing estrogen and progesterone – defer to your doctor as always. Some literature suggests that Dong Quai and Black cohosh may help in language development.

Black Cohosh Extract Plus Capsules

Often individuals need to try a range of supports before finding one that alleviates their menopausal symptoms. Black Cohosh Extract Plus is a combination of both Black Cohosh and Dong Quai which are reported to work together to help with symptoms of menopause. If that combination is not successful then the product listed as AM/PM Menopause contains a number of herbs reported to be of help. They are divided into those designed to benefit during the day and those that may be more helpful at night. Some literature suggests that Dong Quai and Black cohosh may help in language development. Finally, Natural Estrogen is a product that includes isoflavone and lignans as sources of phytoestrogen along with licorice, Vitex and broccoli.

Blood Pressure Support Tablets

This supplement is NOT meant to replace the need for blood pressure medication and you should consult with your own doctor before using supplements in conjunction with any medication. This compound contains herbs that may be calming for the system as well as supportive for a healthy heart, such as Hawthorne. The supplement can be used in conjunction with low doses of Anxiety Nucleotide Blend as well as low doses of Heart Support Nucleotide Blend. These were all supplements used by my mother, who struggled with blood pressure imbalances. In addition it has been my past experience that often those with blood pressure concerns may have thyroid imbalances. If you have concerns about your blood pressure please consult with your own doctor as always and ask about the possibility of running thyroid tests to rule out thyroid issues. Since iodine is needed for thyroid function, running urine iodine tests in addition to thyroid testing is something I would consider too.

Bone Support™ Capsules

The combination of vitamin k, vitamin D and calcium found in this capsule can aid in calcium transport into the system. In addition, this compound contains magnesium to balance the added calcium and low dose boron and strontium for bone health along with horsetail grass which may speed bone healing as well as providing strength. This capsule may be useful for premenopausal/menopausal women as well as those with imbalances on Bone tests (I have found that many who have BOTH SNPS for ACAT + and C677T + may have imbalances on Bone tests) or those with broken bones or those excreting high levels of lead or cadmium which may negatively impact bone. Low dose Bone Nucleotide Blend can be considered in conjunction with this capsule. I live near a ski resort and I have often used this combination to help speed healing of broken bones after injuries on the ski slopes. In addition, my daughter who is a dancer has had instances where she needed to heal a broken foot quickly so as not to miss too many rehearsals; this combination worked well to speed healing for my daughter.

Borage Oil Softgels

This is an excellent source of both omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids. Borage Oil works especially well to soothe dry irritated skin. Some individuals prefer borage oil to evening primrose oil for “PMS type symptoms” or breast soreness associated with menstrual cycles, and find that it is more effective for these conditions.

Borage Oil in Dry Skin Lotion (Borage Therapy)

This topical cream is an option for those who cannot swallow pills or who want more targeted lotion for skin. I use this lotion daily. Borage is an excellent source of both omega 3 and omega 6 essential fatty acids. Borage Oil works especially well to soothe dry irritated skin. Some individuals prefer borage oil to evening primrose oil for “PMS type symptoms” or breast soreness associated with menstrual cycles, and find that it is more effective for these conditions.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Boswellia Serrata Capsules

The trio of boswellia, curcumin and nettle work together to help balance inflammatory pathways in the body. While the Inflammatory Pathway capsules do contain these three herbs (along with skull cap and slippery elm for additional support), not all individuals tolerate curcumin. Those who cannot tolerate curcumin or prefer to use a higher dose of boswellia can consider the use of this standalone herb that is part of the “trio”. While I definitely prefer the combination found in the Inflammatory Pathway caps, the individual herbs are an alternate option.

Branched Chain Amino Acids Capsules (BCAA)

If valine, leucine and isoleucine are low on an amino acid test then low dose BCAA support can be considered. These amino acids can help to protect the blood brain barrier, and aid in control of glutamate. This supplement should NOT be used if a maple syrup smell is apparent in the urine and should be discontinued IF a maple syrup smell in the urine develops with use. Low doses of all three branched chain amino acids (BCAA) are included in the amino acid support compound called AminoAssist. The idea behind AminoAssist is to support amino acids in a more general manner without adding those amino acids that can over excite nerves such as glutamate or aspartate. AminoAssist is a great supplement for those who have a range of amino acids that are low on a UAA and need more general additional support. When specific amino acids are low on a UAA, such as the BCAA of valine, leucine and isoleucine, then support with just this BCAA capsule can be considered. In order to help process BCAA, I also suggest biotin and adenosyl B12 when adding separate BCAA capsules.

Broccoli Sprouts Capsules

Broccoli is a source of Indole 3-carbinol which can be a help in terms of maintaining healthy estrogen balance. Broccoli is also a source of several glucosinolate compounds that may naturally aid in detox of metals including those that bind to sulfur groups such as mercury. I suggest the use of Broccoli sprouts and/or Indole 3-carbinol for women as they reach premenopausal ages. Broccoli is also reported to reduce the ability of H.pylori to colonize the GI tract.

Buffer pH Capsules

Buffer pH is best used in combination with a pH kit. This way you can determine the pH of your urine, saliva or stool before attempting to balance your pH. This supplement when used in conjunction with a pH kit can aid in maintaining proper pH balance in the body. Those with particularly low pH on CSA or other gut tests can also consider this capsule as a low gut pH can create an environment that is conducive to nonideal bacteria. Other options for balancing gut pH can include the use of VitaOrgan or Stomach pH Nucleotide Blend. Potassium Bicarbonate or Sodium Bicarbonate can also be considered depending on the need for these minerals in the body, HOWEVER, defer to your own doctor before adding bicarbonate minerals. Balancing your pH may help with migraines as low pH can be a factor in migraines. Low pH can also be a factor in aggression so check gut pH for those with aggression especially if lithium and potassium are in balance on a HE.

Butterbur Extract Softgels

Butterbur has been reported to be useful in mitigating certain allergy symptoms. In addition, a number of individuals have found that Inflammatory Pathway Support has made a major positive impact on long term allergies. As tolerated SAMe with the Ultimate B Complex (or All in One) may also be a help for allergies. A combination of natural herbs that may help with allergic issues is the compound Aller-7 however, this may be an issue for those who cannot tolerate extra methyl donors or those with high sulfur issues as Aller-7 does contain MSM. Low dose HYPER-Balancing Nucleotide Blend may also be a help for allergic issues.

ButyrEn Tablets

If low levels of butyric acid (or butyrate) are noted on a CSA or other gut tests then these tablets can be considered. Generally once fatty acid digestion is in better balance the levels of butyrate/butyric acid will balance out on their own over time. However, some individuals may want to consider support with ButyrEn if levels do not naturally get into better balance. Low levels of butyric acid/butyrate may be associated with weight imbalances and recent studies suggest that low level butyrate support may be useful in maintaining a normal healthy weight.

Charcoal (Activated) Capsules

Activated charcoal is often used to help pull toxins from the system. Where this can cause constipation, activated charcoal should be used in conjunction with either Magnesium Citrate or other bowel stimulating supports as needed to ensure that the bowels are moving during activated charcoal use (see the section in the special categories of the supplement list for supplements for “constipation/moving the bowels”). In my opinion, activated charcoal is something to be used infrequently (once or twice a month as directed by your own doctor) as the use of activated charcoal can deplete essential minerals and can also cause elevated vanadium levels on HE. For this reason regular HE and UTEE should be run when using activated charcoal. The same issues in terms of essential mineral depletion and increases in vanadium may be of concern with other similar compounds used to move toxins out of the system such as bentonite clay and diatomaceous earth. Fulvic and Humic acids may also be a source of excessive vanadium as well as other toxic minerals. As with the use of activated charcoal those compounds should be used infrequently, with careful monitoring of essential minerals and vanadium and as always, under the direction of your own doctor.

Calcium & Magnesium Citrates – “Cal/Mag/VitD/VitK” Tablets

The best calcium supplements contain calcium, magnesium, vitamin D and vitamin K. Vitamins D and K help to bind and mobilize calcium and magnesium helps to balance calcium. Based on my expertise with neurological inflammation, large doses of calcium can actually be detrimental to the body. All the calcium in the world will not get to where it is needed in the body without sufficient vitamin D and vitamin K. Many people who believe they are calcium deficient are actually low in the fat-soluble vitamins D and K. As we age, our ability to break down fats and assimilate these vitamins may decrease. Taking high doses of calcium can also deplete the body’s stores of magnesium. Magnesium is helpful for the heart, for blood sugar levels and for muscle cramping. Cal/mag/D/K tablets contain vitamin D and vitamin K to help with the absorption of calcium, as well as a ratio of 750 mg of calcium to 500 mg of magnesium to help keep these minerals in balance. For those who desire a 1:1 ratio of calcium to magnesium, you can add an additional 250mg magnesium. While there have been reports that calcium helps with weight loss, it has also been reported in the literature that there is an inverse relationship between osteoporosis and hormone sensitive cancers. What this study implies is that the higher the bone density, the greater the risk of breast cancer. This is another reason to use moderation with respect to calcium. A Bone Assessment test can be run to check parameters of bone health so that you have this data before deciding on the use of excess calcium.

Calcium D-Glucarate Capsules

This particular form of calcium may help remove excess unwanted estrogen from the system. This may be helpful as women reach menopause or for those with issues of estrogen dominance.

Candisol™ Capsules

There have been reports of great success with the use of this supplement to help balance flora and address yeast. It should be used in conjunction with a number of other supplements designed to restore a balance to the normal flora in the body such as Florastor (2 or 3 times a week), IMF 7, GSE and Mycology Nucleotide Blend. As needed, at home Vaginosis testing can be run to assess yeast issues.

Caprylic Acid Softgels

Caprylic acid has been reported to have a range of antimicrobial properties and can be considered especially when organisms on a CSA test show as being sensitive to caprylic acid. High doses of caprylic can irritate some individuals which is why I suggests using caprylic only when it is indicated as useful on sensitivity tests on a CSA or other stool sensitivity test. Caprylic Acid caps have three times as much caprylic as the Caprylic Plus capsules. This means that if an organism shows as sensitive to caprylic, the first choice would be to use this plain Caprylic Acid capsule. In addition, I always like to use a range of other herbs reported to act on microbes to prevent microbial resistance from cropping up. In my opinion and experience ( my thesis research was in antibiotic resistance), I have found that adding a number of herbal combinations in addition to particular herbs that are listed as sensitive renders the bacteria more vulnerable. Ideally, I suggest you consider Naturomycin + Seasonal Support and GSE along with particular herbs, such as Caprylic if indicated. If biofilms are a concern, then as tolerated also consider Bactisolve to help weaken the protective layers surrounding the bacteria. As needed in terms of tolerance to herbs, or due to cost, the use of these herbs can be rotated. The use of Caprylic Plus tabs (rather than Caprylic Acid softgels) would be indicated if you have been using Caprylic Acid yet on repeat CSA testing the bacterial levels have not decreased. Caprylic Plus has a lower dose of caprylic, but does have other ingredients including Black Walnut, Pau D’ Arco and Cloves. I do not like to use these herbs on a long term basis, but short term they will often help to address microbes that have been more difficult to eradicate. As always defer to your own doctor.

Caprylic Acid Plus Tablets

Caprylic Plus has a lower dose of caprylic than the plain Caprylic Softgel caps do, but it does have other ingredients including Black Walnut, Pau D’ Arco and Cloves. I do not like to use these herbs on a long term basis, but short term they will often help to address microbes that have been more difficult to eradicate. The use of Caprylic Plus tabs (rather than Caprylic Acid softgels) would be indicated if you have been using Caprylic Acid yet on repeat CSA testing the bacterial levels have not decreased. L-Carnitine Tablets

Carnitine has been found to be helpful for the heart and for the liver. It also is useful in converting fat into energy, increasing the energy in the mitochondria that are the energy storage centers in your cells, and helping to maintain cholesterol levels that are already in the normal range. When suberic is high on a MAP or an Organix test, it is a strong indicator of a need for carnitine. Lack of carnitine has also been implicated in migraine headaches. The use of carnitine along with Feverfew and Buffer pH (depending on gut pH) may all be worth considering for migraines with your own doctor. H.pylori infection can deplete carnitine stores, so carnitine is part of the more complete H.pylori suggestion list. Those who exercise extensively may also be low in carnitine, so the use of carnitine and Mitoforce are often a good idea for athletes.

L-Carnitine Fumarate Capsules

This is a particular form of carnitine that can be used when fumarate is low on a MAP test in addition to an indicated need for carnitine.

Carnosine Capsules

Carnosine may help to reduce excess iron and copper in the system, thereby aiding in the balance of the copper/zinc ratio. Rosemary helps to keep the Carnosine intact so that it can do its job. Imbalances in copper and zinc can play a role in attention issues so it is important to work keeping copper in balance. High copper may also decrease GABA levels as well as the impact high copper can have on reducing attention. The use of low dose EDTA capsules and molybdenum as well as zinc support may also help with copper imbalances. Carnosine may decrease glutamate receptors so it can be considered with high glutamate as seen on tests. Carnosine has been reported to help break down beta amyloid plaque and to limit the hexamer reaction (which is a type of die off reaction sometimes seen with detox) in the body. Where beta amyloid plaque is associated with Alzheimers, the use of carnosine along with Huperzine, Ultimate B, Acetylcarnitine, ThinkWell and Inflammatory Pathway capsules (as a source of curcumin and skullcap) may be considered by those with memory concerns.

Cascara Sagrada Capsules

This supplement is excellent for those with sluggish bowels. Cascara is reported to be non-habit forming, so it can be useful for those who are trying to break a laxative dependency. It has also been described to strengthen the colon and help promote and maintain its health. This supplement works well in conjunction with Artichoke, Yellow Dock and Aloe.

Cat’s Claw Standardized Capsules

Cat’s Claw is reported to be a help with Lyme, especially when used in conjunction with Tick Nucleotide Blend and IMF 2 and IMF 8. Also, Cats Claw may decrease virus levels, decrease parasites, increase serotonin and may help with IBD. Move slowly with dosing for Cat’s Claw as high doses can cause detox symptoms. Carnosine can be considered to help with hexamer reactions due to detox.

CBS / NOS – Kidney Support Capsules

Based on animal systems, yucca helps decrease high ammonia levels. For this reason it is included in LOW doses in the CBS/NOS capsule that I designed. The CBS/NOS capsule also includes carnitine and natural compounds to help support natural production of BH4 to aid in ammonia processing. In addition to its impact on ammonia, Yucca is reported to aid in inflammation, being particularly helpful for arthritis and rheumatic pain. In spite of these positives, I only like to use LOW dose yucca. For those who choose to add Yucca Stalk rather than the LOW dose yucca in the CBS/NOS cap, I suggest considering only sprinkles for support. As a basis of comparison, the CBS/NOS cap has approximately 400mg of a proprietary blend that includes some low dose yucca per capsule while these Yucca Stalk capsules have significantly more yucca at 1000 mg of pure yucca per capsule. Where yucca can have estrogenic properties, I only like to use a tiny bit of yucca for its positive role in decreasing ammonia, which is of great importance to the body as high ammonia can put pressure on the urea cycle and deplete BH4. However, it is preferable to use just enough yucca to help with balance in that cycle without using high doses due to its estrogenic properties.

Cell Food Drops

A few drops of this liquid supplement can be added to a drink or a glass of water to provide a wide range of minerals, enzymes and other nutrients. While I personally prefer Bio-Nativus minerals for basic support, Cell Food is generally suggested when copper levels are low on a HE test as Cell Food helps to support copper.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Cell Food SAM-e Drops

I prefer one of the two types of SAMe tablets as support for AHCY + and for S adenosyl methionine rather than the use of Cell Food SAM-e. However, for individuals that cannot tolerate the tablets or cannot swallow pills, then Cell Food with SAMe is an option. Again, the preference is to use either enteric coated or foil wrapped SAMe tablets and only consider this liquid as is an alternative when tablets are not an option.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Chamomile Capsules

Chamomile is traditionally used as a calming herb and for help with sleep. It is actually a natural source of calcium. However, chamomile also helps to maintain healthy levels of the enzyme MAP kinase. This is a good supplement for those who are concerned about their calcium intake, yet at the same time would like to prevent inflammation as a result of calcium. Chamomile is one of the ingredients in the Relaxation capsule for those who want a more complete blend of calming herbs.

Cherry Fruit Extract Capsules

This is an excellent supplement when fresh tart cherries are out of season. This supplement is exceedingly helpful for high uric acid conditions, for allergies, for arthritis and gout. Also the use of Cherry Fruit extract along with low dose TNF Nucleotide Blend may be helpful for those concerned about TNF alpha such as those with high levels of Streptococcus or those concerned with PANDAS.

Chervil

This is a type of parsley that may help stimulate excretion of toxins in urine. It has been reported to help cure hiccups. Chervil is also a natural source of calcium and from a spiritual standpoint may be a good choice for calcium support when needed. Chervil was recommended to me years ago by a spiritual healer. I take chervil daily since that chance meeting with that spiritual healer.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Vegan Kids Multiple Chewables

Vegan Chewables are an alternative to the use of All in One for those who cannot swallow capsules. While these chewable vitamins do not have as customized a composition as All in One they are an option for those who are totally unable to use All in One. My preference is to use All in One, but if that is not possible then consider these chewable vitamins as the next best option. When my daughters were too young to swallow capsules, I would open up the capsule and mix it with honey on a spoon and have my girls lick the mixture off the spoon. I definitely prefer the ‘honey mixed with capsule contents route’ to using a chewable vitamin. However if you can only use a chewable general vitamin, at this point, I would consider this Vegan chewable the best alternative option.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Chitosan Capsules

This is an extract from shellfish shells so it may be a problem if you are sensitive or allergic to shellfish. Chitosan may help to weaken the outer portion of bacteria as well as weaken biofilms, making these organisms more susceptible to other approaches. The compounded supplement BactiSolve has very specific types of chitosan along with EDTA as it has been reported that the combination of EDTA with chitosan is more effective than either compound used alone. However, some individuals prefer not to use EDTA or to control the dose of chitosan independently in which case the use of plain chitosan capsules can be considered. For a more complete approach to chronic bacterial issues consider Chitosan and/or EDTA (or BactiSolve) along with GSE and NaturoMycin and Seasonal Support. As always defer to your own doctor on supplement choices.

Cholacol Tablets

Bile salts tend to be low in those who have had their gall bladder removed, as well as those who have imbalances in fatty acid digestion including those who are ACAT +. While this program prefers the compounded ACAT/BHMT supplement which includes bile salts along with a number of other important nutrients, this standalone capsule can be considered by those who cannot tolerate the more complex compounded ACAT/BHMT cap or those who want to add new ingredients one at a time.

Chromium Drops

These liquid mineral drops are complexed as chromium chloride. While I prefer the use of chromium picolinate to that of chromium chloride, these drops are useful for individuals who are unable to swallow pills yet need an additional source of chromium support.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Chromium Picolinate Capsules

Chromium picolinate is preferred over the use of chromium chloride when a plain source of chromium support is needed. If both chromium and vanadium are low or blood sugar is an issue then consider VDR/FOK capsules which provide both chromium, vanadium as well as pancreatic support. The VDR/FOK cap has a lower dose of chromium picolinate, so if higher doses are needed then both can be used.

L-Citrulline

Low dose support with citrulline can be considered for those with OTC mutations. In addition, when high levels of dibasic amino acids are noted on a UAA (cystine, ornithine, arginine and lysine) the use of citrulline may be helpful but as always consult with your own doctor, especially if dibasic amino aciduria is a concern.

Clear Sinus & Ear Capsules

This Homeopathic combination can be helpful for sinus issues or head colds. This combination is one that my children found particularly helpful when my daughters were in grade school when head colds were prevalent.

Clear Vein Crème

This crème is a topical source of horse chestnut that can help with veins in general and may be helpful for hemorrhoids in particular. While I prefer the use of arnica gel for more general bruising, this cream containing horse chestnut would be more applicable to hemorrhoids and varicose veins.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Cod Liver Oil Softgels

Cod Liver Oil (CLO) is an excellent supplement for those who want to support the liver, or those who have issues with occasional constipation. Many individuals prefer this gel cap supplement, which can be swallowed, over liquid forms of cod liver oil. Cod liver oil is a good source of both vitamin A and D.

Coenzyme Q10 – 50 mg Softgels

Coenzyme Q10 – 100 mg Softgels

Coenzyme Q10 – 200 mg Softgels

CoQ10 is one of the few nutrients that functions in the fat phase and not just the water phase in your body. It is a critical supplement in the energy pathway. CoQ10 has been reported to help with energy, build new nerves and help with membrane fluidity. Based on a recent NIH study, more is better when it comes to CoQ10. CoQ10 is an important antioxidant for oxidative damage in the body, including in the fat phase, not simply the water phase in the cells. There have been reports that indicate that low levels of CoQ10 are a factor in congestive heart failure. Any individual taking statin drugs should be supplementing with CoQ10 on a daily basis. I feel that CoQ10 is a critical supplement and use it as part of MitoForce for general mitochondrial support as well as using it as a separate standalone supplement. Because I feel it is so critical it is offered in a range of doses as well as in capsules, in a spray and as a chewable tablet.

CoEnzyme Q10™ Fatigue & Muscle Support Spray

The advantage of the CoQ10 spray is that it allows for oral absorption in the mouth instead of relying on digestion in the gut after swallowing a capsule. In addition, the spray also includes carnitine, another important energy supplement for the mitochondria. I feel that CoQ10 is so important that I suggest considering the use of the spray as well as the capsules for more than one route of administration of CoQ10 to the body.

For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

CoQ10 in Smart Q10 Chewable Tablets

Chewable CoQ10 is an option for those who cannot swallow capsules and want to supplement the use of the oral CoQ10 spray. Coleus Forskohi (in Forslean Extreme Capsules)

Some reports suggest that Coleus may limit the release of histamine for allergic reactions. When used in conjunction with Respiratory Nucleotide Blend this may be a help for those concerned about mast cell issues. (Recent studies indicate that the presence of Mycoplasma in the system may be a trigger for mast cell activation and so testing for Mycoplasma can also be considered). In addition as needed for allergies several other supplements can be considered including Butterbur and low dose Hyper-Balancing Nucleotide Blend to help with allergic issues. A number of individuals have found that the Inflammatory Pathway capsules have made a major positive impact on long term allergies and that can be considered in conjunction with Aller-7. In addition, as tolerated SAMe with Ultimate B Complex (or All in One) may also be a help with allergies. Coleus may also be a help for the thyroid along with the use of Metabolic Advantage, Pantothenic and PABA.

Collagen Capsules (Type II Bioavailable)

This supplement is often utilized for skin health, as well as to support joint health. It is often helpful for individuals who need joint support when a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement has been unable to make a difference or those who cannot tolerate the sulfur groups that are a part of Glucosamine/Chondroitin plus.

Collinsonia Root Capsules

(otherwise known as Stone Root) This herb is helpful for strengthening the veins, which would also include its use for hemorrhoids. Many individuals prefer this supplement to butchers broom for this purpose, as it should not create potential blood pressure issues as can occur with butcher’s broom. Horsechestnut is another good supplement for vein strength and hemorrhoids. Horse chestnut is also available as a topical cream, Clear Vein creme. It can be used in conjunction with collinsonia. For those with blood pressure issues the safest approach would be an oral collinsonia supplement with or without topical cream.

Colon Cleanse Capsules

This combination includes cascara as well as a number of other herbs that may limit the irritation or cramping some experience from using an herb to stimulate the bowels. This combination is ideal for those who need bowel stimulation but cannot use cascara alone due to cramping issues. Cascara, which is included in Colon Cleanse, is reported to be non-habit forming, so it can be useful for those who are trying to break a laxative dependency. It has also been described to strengthen the colon and help promote and maintain its health. Colon Cleanse also includes Rhubarb, which can both be useful for bowel stimulation as well as for high levels of non-ideal Bacteroides on stool tests.

Colostrum with Lactoferrin and IGF-1 Capsules

Colostrum is a source of immunoglobulins such as IgG and IgA. Where I see low sIgA on a number of gut tests or very high level sIgA on these tests (that can ultimately lead to long term depletion), I have selected sources of colostrum reported to be higher in sIgA molecules. Different types of colostrum have their own unique balance of these immunoglobulins. For this reason I often suggest rotating the colostrum products. The use of Bowel Nucleotide Blend may be useful for those with imbalances in sIgA when used in conjunction with colostrum. In addition, the use of Muscle Fatigue capsules or Air Power may be a help to balance mucus when sIgA is out of balance.

Cranberry (Concentrated) Capsules

Cranberry has a reputation for being helpful for urinary tract health. In particular it is reported to limit adherence of E.coli which is often the culprit in cases of urinary tract infections. When high levels of E.coli are noted on stool tests, cranberry along with other nutrients can be useful in balancing gut bacteria. In terms of gut flora, cranberry works well in conjunction with a number of other supplements that may have antimicrobial properties. One group that works extremely well together is included in NaturoMycin: Oregon Grape, Neem, Myrrh, Goldenseal, Cranberry, and Oregamax, and Uva Ursi. In addition, the use of IMF 5 and Microbial ECX Nucleotide Blend can be considered along with the use of cranberry.

Ultra Chewable Cranberry Tablets

For those who are unable to swallow pills or prefer to add extra chewable cranberry, this supplement has the same advantages as the cranberry capsules. This supplement has a reputation for being helpful for urinary tract health. In particular it is reported to limit adherence of E.coli which is often the culprit for urinary tract infections. When high levels of E.coli are noted on stool tests, then cranberry along with other nutrients can be useful in balancing gut bacteria. For those who cannot swallow pills, please see the complete list of chewables, creams, liquids, and other forms available listed at the end of this supplement guide.

Creatine Capsules

The highest creatinine found naturally is in the brain, testes and muscles. Low creatinine levels on urine tests or weak muscle tone are both indicators that you might want to consider creatine support. I suggest the use of SAMe along with creatine for those with a pattern of low creatinine levels on urine tests such as a UAA, UTM, UEE, MAP, Organix test.

Curbita Bladder Capsules

This is an extract from pumpkin. There are reports to suggest that pumpkin extract helps to strengthen the bladder muscles. Adult males can consider Curbita along with a source of Saw Palmetto, Prostate Nucleotide Blend and Prostanex if needed. Those with bladder control issues, whether younger individuals or older women can consider Curbita along with Horsetail Grass to help with urination control. As always, defer to your own doctor with any bladder or prostate concerns.

Vitamin C-500 with Rose Hips 100 Tablets

Vitamin C-1000 with Rose Hips 100 Tablets

The use of Vitamin C with rose hips dates back to my work years ago with individuals who had non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The addition of rose hips to their diet had a positive impact on health. For this reason, my preference is to always use a source of vitamin C with rose hips and I personally take this supplement daily. Vitamin C in general is an important nutrient that many of us simply do not supplement sufficiently. Vitamin C has been reported to help with the absorption of nutrients in the brain, thus increasing their ability to cross the blood brain barrier. Vitamin C also helps to regenerate glutathione, a critical detoxification substance that is made by the liver. Vitamin C may also be a help for Ion transport issues. In my personal opinion, the more vitamin C, the better, as long as it doesn’t cause problems with loose bowels or bruising and bleeding. I take extra vitamin C support after each cup of coffee I drink as coffee may deplete vitamin C. I also take vitamin K twice a day to prevent bruising issues from extra C.

Vitamin C in Orange Chewable C-500mg Tablets

Chewable Vitamin C is great for those who cannot swallow pills and also as a treat you can keep in your pocket and pop in your mouth during the day, when you are driving or when exhaustion hits later in the day at work. I actually keep a bag of chewable vitamin C tablets in my purse. Vitamin C is an important nutrient that many of us simply do not supplement sufficiently. Vitamin C has been reported to help with the absorption of nutrients in the brain, thus increasing their ability to cross the blood brain barrier. Curcumin from Turmeric Extract Capsules

When possible I prefer to use the whole herbs or plants rather than concentrated extracts. For instance, I prefer turmeric which is the source of curcumin to using isolated concentrated high dose curcumin. This is because the entire plant has ingredients that often mitigate negative effects of isolated components. In the case of curcumin, high doses of it can have a blood thinning effect and may cause bruising and bleeding. In contrast, turmeric has properties that help with bruising and bleeding. This is a prime example of why I suggest turmeric for those looking to use a source of curcumin rather than suggesting the use of concentrated sources of curcumin. In addition, studies have illustrated that turmeric is actually superior to isolated curcumin with respect to supporting the immune system. Turmeric/curcumin does have wonderful properties for helping with inflammation and I like to use it in combination with nettle and boswellia to help balance all three inflammatory pathways. When used in this combination, such as in the Inflammatory Pathway capsules the dose of curcumin is lower and used in combination with nettle and boswellia. Curcumin has also been reported to be helpful in promoting colon and skin health. It serves as a methyl donor, which is another reason why lower dose curcumin (in the Inflammatory Pathway capsules) or turmeric as a source of curcumin is preferred. Some little known positives cited for curcumin are that it may help decrease prions (prions cause disease such as mad cow disease), aid in helping with cystic fibrosis symptoms, helps with aspects of alcohol damage in the liver as well as decreasing the inflammatory mediator NFKB and may help increase GSH. Curcumin may also be helpful in addressing the inflammatory factors associated with H.pylori.
